It's ergonomic design fits comfortably in the palm of your hand allowing for a more natural, sporty-feeling grasp in any driving situation. By contrast most stock shifter knobs are designed without thought as to the placement in the hand, which can put it directly below the thumb. This positioning puts pressure on the muscles contributing to hand fatigue, and can cause the knob to slip during "spirited" driving.
